Angelina County's Four JP Warrant Routes
Angelina County splits its Class C and traffic matters across four JP courts: JP1 and JP2 in Lufkin, JP3 in Huntington with a sub-courthouse in Zavalla, and JP4 in Diboll. Each court keeps its own clerk and phone number. Go by the court name printed on the citation, not by the town where the stop happened or where the person lives. The county-wide traffic page lays out every way to reach the courts in person, by phone, email, or mail, and it lists the options a judge might approve: payment plans, community service, time-served review, indigency forms, defensive driving, and deferred disposition. Each court decides which option fits its own case. A city citation skips all of this and goes straight to that city's municipal court instead.
Angelina County Warrant Checks
Start with the paper in front of you. A citation, court notice, cause number, or payment-plan number points you to the right clerk faster than anything else. For an Angelina County JP traffic matter, the official JP traffic instructions cover all four courts and their contact channels. A city ticket goes to the municipal court printed on it. When the issuer is unclear, the Sheriff's Office separates Warrant/Civil Process from Records and jail operations, and its warrant and civil-process information offers a human being who can route you. Ask the court to confirm current status and the approved way to appear or pay.
- Read the citation or notice for the court and case number.
- Call that clerk and ask whether the case is in FTA, warrant, or capias status.
- Ask what options the court allows and when it will update the record.
- Use the sheriff line for process routing if the issuing court is not clear.
A receipt can show up before the court's own records catch up in Angelina County. Keep it, and ask the clerk when the recall gets entered.
Warrants in Angelina County: The Main Types
The word "warrant" covers several different court processes. A sworn complaint can support an arrest warrant in Angelina County. A missed setting or unpaid judgment can trigger a failure-to-appear or capias process tied to that court. A search warrant reaches for evidence or property under a different chapter of Texas law. Ask which process is active before picking a records route.
| Process | Common local context | First office |
|---|---|---|
| Arrest warrant | Sworn complaint and probable-cause review | Issuing court or magistrate |
| Bench warrant / capias | Missed appearance or court order | Court named on the case |
| Capias pro fine | Unpaid fine after judgment | JP or municipal court |
| Search warrant | Search for property or evidence | Issuing court; separate access rules |
An Angelina County Portal Error Does Not Clear a Warrant
Angelina County points its traffic information at a Judicial Records Search, but the endpoint can fail with an ASP.NET 500 error. When it loads, the county says the search is meant to show court, case, and amount information. When it does not, there are no search fields or record columns to work with at all. A server glitch is just that. It says nothing about whether a court file exists, and it does not mean a warrant has been recalled. Try the official Judicial Records Search link first. If it errors out or shows no matching matter, call the court in Angelina County directly and ask the clerk to check the file for you.
Portal note: Treat the error as an access problem, not a case result. The JP clerk is the fallback for a county traffic record.
Angelina County Warrant Records: What They Show
No single format or column set fits every Angelina County warrant record, because each court keeps its own files. A JP or municipal citation file may tie together a ticket, case, court, offense, due date, balance, and payment status. A district file may carry an indictment, revocation, bond forfeiture, writ, or warrant entry. The county's District Clerk records page names those felony-file categories for Angelina County. Ask the clerk what a field means and whether a displayed status is current. Never treat a payment portal as the court's complete case history.
| Case or citation number | Identifies the court matter; labels differ by office. |
|---|---|
| Issuing court | Shows which clerk controls status and resolution. |
| Amount or plan | May change; confirm the current balance with the court. |
| Process status | Ask whether it is active, served, recalled, or still pending entry. |
County Clerk or District Clerk for Angelina Warrants
Angelina County has a felony and district-court layer plus two County Courts at Law handling county-level misdemeanors. The District Clerk keeps the files of the 159th and 217th District Courts. The County Clerk serves County Courts at Law records, and that office says it no longer conducts criminal or background searches. The split matters when a search turns up nothing. A general County Clerk inquiry is not a substitute for a felony-file question to the District Clerk, and the sheriff's service records are yet another system. The county's County Clerk page and District Clerk page explain what each office does.

Angelina County Warrants: Who Issues, Who Serves
The 159th and 217th District Courts are Angelina County's felony trial courts. County Court at Law 1 and 2 handle county misdemeanor files. The four JP courts and the city municipal courts issue process for their own matters. The issuing judge or magistrate authorizes it; a peace officer or sheriff may serve it. Angelina County's sheriff contacts page separates Warrant/Civil Process, Records, Writs, jail, and Book-In. Call Warrant/Civil Process at 936-639-8739; Records is 936-639-8762. The jail line is not the first place for a court-status question. The sheriff's contact point handles routing and service only, and it cannot change a municipal or JP judgment, which stays with the issuing court.
Angelina County's published Sheriff contact block distinguishes warrant, records, writs, and jail channels.

DPS and OmniBase Do Not Search All Warrants
Texas DPS runs a Failure to Appear/Failure to Pay Program for qualifying court matters that may affect driver's-license renewal. Its linked OmniBase interface asks for a driver's-license number and date of birth, then routes a person back to the reporting court. DPS says its specialists cannot tell someone whether an outstanding warrant exists. The DPS program page and DPS FAQ describe a reporting channel, not an Angelina County warrant search. Updates after a court resolves a reportable case can take several business days, so a clear state result does not clear every local process.
Handling an Angelina County Warrant
Before showing up on your own, phone the Angelina County court that issued the warrant. If it is an arrest warrant, or the case status is murky, a lawyer can arrange the surrender instead. Ask the clerk about bond, a hearing date, and whether the court allows payment plans, community service, time-served review, or an indigency process. Staff explain procedure only. They cannot give legal advice.
Before you go: Confirm the court's current policy and the right location. Hudson's Safe Haven and Diboll's appearance language apply only to their own municipal courts.
The Bail Bond Board keeps a list of regulated bond businesses along with local rules. No universal bond percentage appears anywhere on it. Also remember: paying a bond, paying a fine, and getting a warrant recalled are three distinct steps in Angelina County, so keep your receipts and ask the clerk when each one takes effect.
Amnesty Notices Carry Court Dates
Angelina County's amnesty windows come and go by court. JP1 and JP4 each posted Class C amnesty notices covering parts of 2024, and Diboll's municipal court ran its own program from March 1–31, 2026. Those windows have closed. What remains useful is the pattern: a sitting court occasionally opens a dated period for resolving eligible Class C cases at reduced cost. Right now the county has no single countywide offer. For a new notice, call the court that issued the case and ask about eligible cases, payment terms, and whether a voluntary appearance is covered. Diboll's no-arrest language applies only to Diboll. For scale, Lufkin's FY2023 budget reported 3,593 citations in 2020–21 and 3,700 in 2021–22, with 4,000 budgeted for 2022–23. Past totals like those describe workload, never the warrants active today.
Angelina County Warrant Access Under Texas Law
Texas opens most government records through the Public Information Act, Government Code Chapter 552, which covers public information already held for official business. Angelina County runs requests through its Open Records page, which favors the web portal. Note: the county need not create a record, answer questions, or do legal research. If you want a court file, ask the clerk holding it directly rather than filing the countywide form.
Access limits: Government Code §552.108 may protect active investigative material; §552.147 allows Social Security number redaction. Texas Code of Criminal Procedure Article 15.26 supports access to executed arrest warrants and affidavits, subject to other limits. Chapter 552 · Chapter 15
In Angelina County, juvenile records, sealed process, personal identifiers, and open investigations each carry their own access limits, so expect separate review before anything is released.
A Lufkin Sweep Figure Is Not a Current Count
Lufkin's municipal-court budget reports past workload, including 589 and 600 warrants resolved in earlier sweep periods, with 600 budgeted in a later period, and it notes an annual warrant sweep besides. Those are history, not a live tally. The lesson for Angelina County is procedural. One court's figures, dates, fees, and amnesty terms describe that court alone. For any current warrant status, the issuing court is still the only voice that counts. The warrant check page lays out the countywide portal and the phone fallback.
City Warrant Records in Angelina County
City courts in Angelina County each run their own citation and failure-to-appear procedures, and the five largest incorporated cities take distinct public routes. So read the court name printed on your citation before you follow any payment link. A resident's home address tells you nothing about which court issued the case. Each city card below carries its own police and municipal-court details. Population figures use the 2020 Census vintage.
